They look lovely and also growths (or free edges if it's French look) won't be so visible till they come back for next appointments. ( so they stretch it to 4-5 weeks, that's the cons :))
All pics in this page is used Gelish.
I'm not a big fan of using Gelish for nail art, but Gelish works brilliantly for fading effects.
For the nails above, I used "sweet chocolate" mixed with MAC gold pigments and "night shimmer".
Pick up a tiny amount of the pigments with cocktail stick and mix with "sweet chocolate"
Prep the nails and foundation gel, cure.
Add a bit of "sweet choc/gold" into "night shimmer" and mix, colour in the 1. Cure.
Add more "sweet choc/gold" to the colour you just used for 1. Colour in the 2. Cure.
Colour in the 3 with "sweet choc/gold" and cure.
Apply those layers very thin, otherwise you'll see the gap between the layers.
I tend to use "Vegas nights" (or any glittery gel) on top, this makes the fading look more smooth.
And of course, top it off and cure.
Sheer colours are easy to do and matte opaque colours are difficult especially white! and to be honest, Gelish Sleek White is a killer :) I tried but I had to do 5 layers of whites. (if it's soak off gels like Bio Sculpture and Calgel, 3-4 layers of whites)
So I don't do white fading with Gelish, if it has to be Gelish I would do with Night Shimmer / Sleek White.

And... Yes, I do mix good quality pigments with gel occasionally.
We use colourdrops with monomer and gel, so why not?
I heard some people mix watercolour paint with gel which I'm not sure about, but I never had problems with mixing a tiny amount of pigments, it works fine. However, I don't mix anything with base coat gel or top coat gel.
These are the pigments I have.

The primary colours are from an art shop, some art pigments are poisonous. Seek advice!
White and yellow I have is actually edible, you might have this "Indian Yellow" in your kitchen cupboard for your pilau rice :) "Turmeric!!"

I really LOVE the first picture you have above the Gelish Sleek White fading. I got my first Gelish fade mani yesterday and am loving it so far!
ReplyDeleteHi, I am going for a Gelish manicure. I would like a very light pale pink with no shimmer. I have heard that Bashful has a little shimmer. Do you know if this is true, and if so, is there a similar color without a shimmer? Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteHi Amy.I don't have Bashful but as far as I know, it's more like translucent white. If you're looking to opaque light pink, it would be Pink smoothie. Best to ring Harmony 0800 014 8300 though?
ReplyDeleteThanks Marcia, I'm sure your client loves it too xx
ReplyDeleteThis kinf of technique is my favorite. That's because of simplicity and modesty of this kind of nail polishing.
